About Rookie Reiner...What if you could roll up millions of dollars in reining earnings and fit all that experience into one book? Heather grew up in the city as a typical horse-crazy city girl. During her early teens she began to ride at a local stable, spending her spare time doing part-time and odd jobs to earn money to pay for riding lessons. In high school she began to work for a local trainer and as soon as she graduated she headed over to Europe to work in a reining barn. She returned to Canada and worked for another reining trainer, developing her understanding of the sport of reining and the world of showing. She watched non pros at all levels of experience do well, make mistakes, and grow as riders. The idea for Rookie Reiner came from a discussion Heather had with a friend, bemoaning the fact that there was no singular resource that helped beginning reiners transition in to the show pen. So Heather wrote one. Heather didn't just use her own advice - she went to reining horse trainers with decades of riding and coaching experience and asked them everything from how to calm show jitters to what sort of clothes to wear. She interviewed industry experts like judges and equine business owners to ensure she had the best information from the best, most qualified people. And now it can be yours, too! Rookie Reiner: How to Survive and Thrive in the Show Pen is due out in stores in Fall 2008. Sign up for the Rookie Reiner notification list to win a free copy of the book! |
